Karesansui @ KeeClub is a derivative of the software work Karesansui, transposed onto an architectural facade. Modular sponge elements were fabricated and applied to the building's exterior as a skin, allowing the algorithmically generated forms to re-emerge in physical space.
The site: Kee Club, 796 Huaihai Middle Road — two neo-classical twin villas built in 1921 and 1927, once the offices of Shanghai's Civil Aviation Authority and Film Bureau, carrying nearly a century of East-West cultural history.

『枯山水 @ KeeClub』は、ソフトウェア作品『枯山水』を建築の外壁に持っていったもの。アルゴリズムが描き出すパターンを、スポンジで作ったモジュールに置き換え、建物のファサード全体に貼っていく。デジタルのなかで生まれた形が、もう一度、物理空間に立ち上がる試みだった。
場所は上海・淮海中路796号、Kee Club。1921年と1927年に建てられた新古典主義の双子の邸宅で、かつては上海民航局と電影局の事務所だったところ。一世紀近く、東と西の文化が交わってきた建物だ。
